A return to action for Corey Dripps at Donnellson
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- Corey Dripps Racing will be back in action Friday, June 13th at the Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, IA. As the team prepares for what CDR spokesman Rick Dripps is calling, "the start of a new season", there is confidence in the team having a good year. Sperry Engines are back under the hood, and a new car is ready to roll.
"Two weeks ago, we finally got our motor from Sperry Engines, and they managed to squeeze a little more horsepower out the ole girl," said Rick Dripps. Sperry Engines re-joined the team two weeks ago.
CDR has been working on a complete new car the past few weeks. Driver Corey Dripps has been working on the new car himself, and he took it off the jig Thursday. Over the weekend, the interior and bodywork was completed. This week, the team will start to assemble the car.
"It's a fine looking car, and it will be known as a 2004 model," added Rick Dripps.
"I have to thank AFCO for all their support," stated Corey Dripps. "They have really helped us out with this new car."
Despite the bad luck this season, and the fact that the team will return to racing this coming Friday in an untested car, CDR still feels positive about the season.
"We're sitting eleventh in the USMTS National rundown, and we are in second in the 'Rookie of the Year' battle," Corey said with confidence. "I think we still have a good shot at the rookie title and a top ten (in points) overall."
