USMTS to make final event at Owatonna fun and exciting for everyone
OWATONNA, Minn. -- The United States Modified Touring Series is set to stage its last event of the season at the Steele County Fairgrounds in 2003 this Friday night.
This race will be unique, as several changes have been made for the race. The racing action is set to get underway at 7pm with hot laps before the fun and excitement will get underway. This race will see several changes in how USMTS usually runs the shows. The action will get underway with all heat races for all classes. The hobby stocks will race for $300 to win, while the B-mods will race for $500 to win. The modifieds will run all the heat races. We will then take the top twelve drivers and run a dash that will pay $500 to win and $100 to start.
This will determine the line-up for the second $500 to win dash. The top twelve from the first dash will then be inverted and run another $500 to win dash. This will set the stage for the Midwest Motorsports Main Event that will pay $3000 to the winner.
We will then do introductions for the main event, with the top twelve drivers standing by a frisbee and the driver that gets the biggest applause from the fans will turn over his frisbee and that is how many cars will be inverted for the main event paying $3000 to the winner. That is not it; as after the main event we will run a first time ever King of the Hill race.
King of the Hill will take two cars on the track at a time and race a three-lap race with the winner advancing on until there is no driver left. Once we determine the winner of the King of the Hill race that driver will receive $1000. The top five drivers will be paid in the King of the Hill race.
This should be a very fun night of racing as this is a first for the USMTS and the drivers are looking forward to this event. The drivers will have five minutes after the first twelve-lap dash to do whatever they would like to their car. This will be a must see event so be sure to catch the final USMTS race of the 2003 race season this Friday night at the Steele County Fairgrounds in Owatonna, MN.
