Hejna featured in latest Speedway Illustrated
SALISBURY, Mass. – O'Reilly USMTS standout and fan favorite Al Hejna garnered some special coverage this week with a short feature in the lastest issue of Speedway Ilustrated magazine.
Located on page 66 of the magazine's Speedway Saturday Night section, "Hejna's Heart" details the story of his journey with the series and his mission to compete at every track in the state of Iowa on the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Tour. The goal is to help spread the word of what JDRF is all about and raise money to help the cause.
JDRF is the leading charitable funder and advocate of type 1 (juvenile) diabetes research worldwide. The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. Type 1 diabetes is a disease which strikes children suddenly and requires multiple injections of insulin daily or a continuous infusion of insulin through a pump. Insulin, however, is not a cure for diabetes, nor does it prevent its eventual and devastating complications which may include kidney failure, blindness, heart disease, stroke and amputation. More information is available at www.jdrf.org.
Hejna's daughter, Madison, has juvenille diabetes and he's raising money to help find a cure with a little help from his friends and fans. Just buy an Al Hejna Racing "Lucky 7 Club" T-shirt for only $25, and all of the proceeds will be donated to the JDRF. Fans can purchase a T-shirt at the track, or through Hejna's website at www.hejnaracing.com.
