Southern Iowa Speedway to host Final USMTS North Region Points race for 2003 Oct 9-11
OSKALOOSA, Iowa -- The United States Modified Touring Series will race its final three races of the year this weekend at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, IA this Thursday thru Saturday for three complete shows. The USMTS modifieds will be on hand racing for $2000 to win on Thursday, $3000 to win on Friday, and $4000 to win on Saturday. Three complete shows for the modifieds, which will feature some of America’s top modified drivers doing battle on the ½ mile speedway. Fans can come and expect to see: Kelly Shryock, Tommy Myer, Jason Hughes, Bruce Hanford, Mark Noble, John VanDenBerg, Dan Chapman, Scott Megonigle, Russ Olson, Corey Dripps, Kevin Pittman, Willy Kraft, Craig Scott, Tony Fraise, Scott Dickey, Jerry Pilcher, Brian Edel, Tim and Troy Folkerts, Ron VerBeek, Ray Guss Jr, Dan Daniels, Terry Beckham, Rick Gustin, Richie Gustin, Al and Mike Hejna, Dean Mahlstedt, Mike Wedelstadt, Glen Ridgway, Dan Fetters, Gary Blackburn, Kevin Peters, Jim Sandusky, Darin Thye, Zack Vanderbeek, Mike Johnson, Gordy Head, Greg Kastli, Mark Widmar, Martin Bennett to name a few. Also running will be the Hobby Stocks and Stock Cars each class will be running a complete show each night. Hobby Stocks will pay $300 on Thursday, $400 on Friday and $500 on Saturday. Stock Cars will pay $500 on Thursday, $600 on Friday, and $700 on Saturday.
Hot laps will begin at 6:30 pm Thursday and Friday with racing to follow. Saturday night we will begin hot laps at 5pm with racing to follow. These three nights of racing will end the season for the USMTS, which has raced more than sixty times this season. Kelly Shryock has taken a 105-point lead into the final weekend of racing and looks to win his fifth consecutive National Title. The USMTS will be renting the facility from the Southern Iowa Fair and fans will be treated to all kinds of non-stop racing action this weekend.
