USMTS Minnesota/Iowa Frostbuster this week

WEBSTER CITY, Iowa -- The United States Modified Touring Series will continue its north region with two stops this weekend at the Owatonna Raceway in Owatonna, MN and the Hancock County Speedway in Britt, IA on Thursday and Friday evening. The first stop will be Thursday evening in Owatonna for the Minnesota Frostbuster.

This race was originally scheduled for Saturday afternoon, but was moved to Thursday night. Thursday nights races will also feature the B-mods as the only support class with the cooler temperatures forecasted this will get the racing done a lot earlier. Thursday evening gates will open at 5pm with hot laps scheduled for 6:30 and racing to follow.

Some of the top modified drivers in the area are expected for the races at Britt and Owatonna on Thursday and Friday. USMTS has had eight races so far this season and Kelly Shryock has picked up five wins so far and made more than $15,000 in these eight races. The USMTS north region kicked off last weekend in Oskaloosa, IA for the two-day show and more than seventy mods checked in for the racing action on Friday night as Kelly Shryock picked up the win over Al Hejna.

On Saturday a first time winner in Dan Bohr took home the $4000 payday over Jon Tesch and Tommy Myer. These two races will be the third and fourth race in a very busy north region schedule and both races will pay $2000 to the winner of the main event. We talked with promoter Dan Danielson yesterday and he told the USMTS that he has had a lot of time in the track this season and the track was ready to go and looking forward to kicking off the season with the USMTS Frostbuster.

Friday night hot laps will be at 6:45 with racing to follow. The drivers meeting is set for 6:30 on Friday night. Also running will be B-mods and Stock Cars at Britt on Friday night.

Some of the expected drivers for this weekend include: Tommy Myer, Kelly Shryock, Al Hejna, Mark Noble, Jason Hughes, Zack Vanderbeek, Bruce Hanford, Corey Dripps, Jon Tesch, Mike Sorensen, Steve Wetzstein, Tim Donlinger, Nate Wasmund, John Logue, Joe McBirnie, Mike Wedelstadt, Julie McDermid, Craig Scott, Willy Kraft, Mike Hejna, Dean Mahlstedt, Jimmy Davis, Jay Ihrke, Tim Siercks, Dave Siercks, Dan Bohr, Jason Krohn, Ryan Ruter, Neil Eckhardt, Johnny Bone plus many more.
