Hyde family home lost to fire

Hyde family home lost to fire

The family of USMTS Southern Series driver Dustin “Tater” Hyde suffered a heartbreaking disaster on Sunday, Dec. 28, when a fire broke out in the middle of the night in their home in Texarkana, Texas.

Around 3 a.m., Dustin's father was awakened by the smell of smoke. He awakened his wife and both were able to escape through a second-floor window.

While neither was injured, the house was a complete loss.

“This happened just three days after Christmas, and my parents really need some prayers and help,” Dustin said. “They have lost everything inside, plus everything that has a sentimental value that cannot be replaced.”

It appears that insurance estimates will not cover the cost to rebuild the home that the family has lived in for more than 20 years.

Dustin, his girlfriend Christa and car owner Renea Ducote have opened a trust fund to allow for family or friends in the racing community that would like to help:

Hyde Family Relief Fund
c/o Century Bank
359 White Road West
Texarkana, TX 75503

The account number is 6773001 and is held in the name of Robert, Billie and Dustin Hyde.

Donations to help Dustin's parents in this time of need will be greatly appreciated.
