Shryock, Cramer lead Team HTL to four top-five finishes
LANCASTER, Ky. -- Team HTL drivers Kelly Shryock, Jesse Cramer, and J.P. Karpowicz had a busy Memorial Day holiday weekend. Kelly competed in five USMTS events over the weekend, racking up several impressive finishes. On Thursday at the Park Jefferson (SD) Speedway, Kelly drove his #3 to a sixth place finish in the A-Main after winning his B-Main event. Kelly won his heat race at the Murray County (MN) Speedway on Friday night, but that event was washed out after Heat Race #3. That event is rescheduled for June 14.
At the Deer Creek (MN) Speedway on Saturday, Kelly wound up second in the A-Main after finishing second in his heat race. Another second place finish was in order for Kelly and the team on Sunday at the Dodge County (MN) Speedway after they won their B-Main event. Kelly's weekend closed out on Monday at the Steele County Fairgrounds in Owatonna, MN. He was sent to the rear of the field and did not make it back up to the Top Five. Based on this weekend's results, Kelly has moved in the second spot in the USMTS North Region standings. Kelly continues to lead the USMTS National point standings. Jesse Cramer drove his #12t car to a fifth place outing on Friday night at the Bloomington Speedway in Bloomington, IN. The solid finish moves Jesse and the team up to third in the Bloomington Speedway point standings. Jesse then traveled to Kamp, IN for Saturday night's $2,000 to win special at the Kamp Motor Speedway. He won his heat race and then went onto post an impressive third place finish in the A-Main. On Sunday, Jesse made a last minute decision to compete at the Tri-State (IN) Speedway, but that event was rained out prior to the heat races.
J.P. Karpowicz had the lightest schedule of the three Team HTL pilots, as he just entered one event over the weekend. He brought his #2 machine to the Limaland Motorsports Park in Lima, OH for a $2,025 to win event. However, J.P. was involved in a crash in his heat race and finished a disappointing eighth. He rolled off ninth in the B-Main and moved up to fourth before a spin ended his night.
This weekend, Kelly will be racing locally and preparing for the USMTS National Tour. The National Tour consists of 19 races in 21 days in six different states. The tour begins on June 7th at the Adams County Speedway in Corning, IA and will race in Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, Missouri, Nebraska, and Kansas before concluding on June 27th at the Caney Valley Speedway in Caney, KS.
Jesse will be back at the Bloomington (IN) Speedway this Friday night, as he continues his quest for the Bloomington Speedway track championship. He will then compete again on Saturday night at the Kamp (IN) Motor Speedway. J.P. is slated to compete in a pair of events at the Limaland (OH) Motorsports Park on Friday night and the $1,000 to win AMRA event at the Wayne County (OH) Speedway on Saturday.
