COMP Cams Engine Builder of the Year Award, USMTS racer contingency program continues in 2009
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – COMP Cams will again be helping to power the engine builders who power the stars and cars of the United States Modified Touring Series in 2009.
As they did during the 2008 racing season, COMP Cams will offer a three-pronged program which will benefit both drivers and engine builders.
The COMP Cams Engine Builder of the Year Award will again recognize the powerplant producers whose dedication and hard work propel the USMTS Modifieds around America's finest dirt ovals.
“The COMP Cams Engine Builder of the Year Award was very popular and well-received in 2008,” said USMTS president Todd Staley. “Thanks to support from COMP Cams, this has proven to be a great way to shine the limelight on some of the innovators in our sport.”
The builders of engines used by USMTS drivers will duke it out again through the season-long program. The COMP Cams EBotY will recognize the top five points earners in the USMTS Casey's General Stores National Tour at season's end.
Drivers displaying the approved COMP Cams decal will also benefit through awards earmarked for the top three finishers in each of the four USMTS Casey's General Stores National Tour regions and the USMTS Southern Series. The top five in national points at the conclusion of The Hunt for the USMTS Casey's General Stores National Championship will also be recognized.
“We’re glad to return for our second season of working with the racers and engine builders of the USMTS,” said COMP Cams Marketing Director Chris Douglas. “The 2008 season was a great start to our USMTS involvement and we plan to be even more active in the series during the 2009 season. In fact, we will have representatives on-site at several of the national and regional events throughout the year. Like the USMTS, the COMP Cams family of companies continues to grow (including the recent acquisition of Quarter Master) but what will never change is our mission to build superior products that increase our customer’s chances of success on the race track. At our core COMP Cams is a company of racers and like all racers we couldn’t be more excited about shaking off the winter blues and getting the 2009 USMTS racing season cranked up. We only ask for the opportunity to earn your business in the year ahead and wish all USMTS competitors the best of luck in the season ahead”
Competitors that wish to vie for COMP Cams contingency awards are encouraged to register at www.racecontingency.com.
What's more, COMP Cams will also be a cash contributor to the points funds for both the USMTS Casey's General Stores National Tour and USMTS Southern Series.
Sput’s Racing Engines in Owatonna, Minn., captured the 2008 COMP Cams Engine Builder of the Year Award. USMTS Casey's General Stores National Tour drivers utilizing Sput’s powerplants captured 23 main event wins during the 2008 campaign, with 36 different engine builders scoring points toward the title.
