Deer Creek Speedway receives RPM Promoter of the Award

SPRING VALLEY, Minn. - The 2008 racing season saw the Queensland Family of Grand Meadow pick up a couple awards for their promotion of the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn.

The Queensland Family and Deer Creek Speedway received one of the most prestigious awards in February during the annual RPM Promoters Workshop in Florida. The Queensland family was selected as Promoter of the Year for the Northern Region. This region encompasses all dirt and asphalt ovals, drag strips, road courses and any facility holding racing events in the states of Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

With over 1,000 promoters operating and promoting facilities nationwide it is difficult to get recognized, but the Queensland family did get noticed for their efforts in taking the 3/8-mile high-banked dirt oval from a basic operation popular with local fans and are developing a regional reputation that now offers suites, improved seating and a schedule full of events including the Gopher 50, World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series and the Featherlite Fall Jamboree for the USMTS Modifieds.

There are eight regions voted on throughout the nation. The nominations are handled by promoters within the region returning a form with their three top choices for regional promoter of the year. The highest vote receiver is awarded the prestigious award by being selected by their peers.

After signing up and running the Slingshot by Tobias class at the Button Buck Speedway the smaller track built within the larger Deer Creek Speedway facility the support from the drivers and fans was shown through the off-season. During an awards program in February the Queensland family was selected as the Promoter of the year for their efforts in building and promoting the Button Buck Speedway and the promotion of the Slingshot by Tobias cars.

It was a great honor for the Queensland family to receive these recognitions of their work during the off season and are busy preparing for the 2009 racing season with action scheduled to start in April at the facility.
