All-American Auto providing bonus money to local racers at La Monte
CLINTON, Mo. – All-American Auto in Clinton, Mo., announced today that they will provide a $100 consolation prize to the first non-qualifying local driver that does not make the Modified feature this Friday when the USMTS Casey's General Stores National Tour competes at the LA Raceway in La Monte, Mo.
“While some of the under-funded local racers may not want to participate against some of the ‘giants’ of the sport that will be at LA next weekend, this prize is just for them,” said John Farmer, Manager of All-American Auto. “While this is not an enormous amount of money, All-American Auto sponsors many different tracks, specials and divisions of racing.”
A racer in the Late Model division himself, Farmer challenges all other local businesses to add whatever they can, whether it be cash or contingency awards.
All-American Auto is a small, home-owned used vehicle dealership in Clinton, Mo. The company has been in operation for eight years. For more information, call All-American Auto at 660-890-AUTO (2886).
The action gets underway on Friday, March 27, with the long-awaited return of the USMTS Casey's General Stores National Tour to the LA Raceway. Last year's stop at the 3/8-mile semi-banked clay oval saw eight-time USMTS National Champion Kelly Shryock of Fertile, Iowa, hold off defending USMTS Southern Series Champion Jason Hughes of Westville, Okla., to take the win.
Friday's show will be the third event in the Bear Tire Mo-Kan Region, which means the Top Dog Bonus will take effect with the top-10 drivers in points guaranteed a minimum of $400 in prize money. Eligible drivers include points leader Dustin Boney of Tonganoxie, Kan., who leads Johnny Bone Jr. of Pea Ridge, Ark., by ten points (191 to 181); Jon Tesch of Watertown, S.D. (179), Hughes (175), Scott Green of Derby, Kan. (173), Rodney Sanders of Happy, Texas (166), Steve Holzkamper of Gentry, Ark. (165), Gary Langworthy Jr. of Coffeyville, Kan. (165), Chad Wheeler of Muskogee, Okla. (160) and Shryock (145).
Pit gates open at 3 p.m., grandstand gates open at 4, hot laps are slated for 6:30 and the first heat race goes green at 7 p.m.
Local Street Stocks will also be on the racing card.
Race fans can pick up $2-off coupons on Friday at the Casey's General Stores location at 101 W. Front St. in La Monte.
