Both nights of USMTS Texas Spring Nationals back at RPM Speedway this weekend

Both nights of USMTS Texas Spring Nationals back at RPM Speedway this weekend

The weather during the first two months of 2021 have thrown a wrench in the plans of many in the racing world. In fact, the 11th Annual USMTS Texas Spring Nationals slated for this Friday and Saturday, March 5-6, is making another adjustment today.

Due to oversaturated grounds from heavy rain this week, officials at the Superbowl Speedway in Greenville, Texas, have announced that the track will not be able to host Saturday's event. Therefore, both days are now back at the RPM Speedway in Crandall, Texas.

The Best of the Best in dirt modified racing will be lighting the fuse to kick off the 2021 campaign for the Summit USMTS National Championship fueled by Casey's and guaranteed to deliver some fast and furious entertainment for Texans who have suffered through snow, ice, rain and rolling blackouts to start the new year.

Dirt modified racing's best of the best will bang wheels for $10,000 to win each night as the biggest, boldest and richest season in the 23-year history of the series gets underway in the Lone Star State with racing this Friday and Saturday. USRA Limited Mods, USRA Factory Stocks, USRA Tuners and Eco Mods will also be part of the program. Dwarf Cars join Friday's show.

The USMTS competitors have banged wheels six times at the RPM Speedway, including four times last fall. After a rain-out in 2012, Johnny Scott won the series debut here in 2013 with Rodney Sanders grabbing the win when the USMTS returned 79 days later.

Dereck Ramirez garnered the win last September before the series returned for the three-night season finale in November. That event produced first-time winners Jack Sartain and Brandon Sheppard on Thursday and Friday with Sheppard backing up his victory with a second straight on Saturday night.

On Friday, pits open at 3 p.m., grandstands open at 5 and racing gets underway at 7 p.m. On Saturday, pits open at 3 p.m., grandstands open at 4 and racing starts at 6 p.m.

With more favorable conditions and an already-prepared racing surface, RPM Speedway officials are optimistic that a test ‘n' tune session will happen but will make an official announcement at 3 p.m. Wednesday regarding whether an open practice will be held on Thursday.

The RPM Speedway is a 1/4-mile semi-banked dirt oval located southeast of Crandall on US 175 E to CR 4106 (Bud Stoy Rd. exit) to the intersection of CR 4104. The physical address is 1267 Co Rd 4106, Crandall, TX 75114. For more information, check out rpmdirt.com.

USMTS TAKING DIRT TO NEW LEVEL IN 2021

The 2021 campaign for the Summit USMTS National Championship fueled by Casey's features 36 nights of racing with the winners of those main events set to take home over $300,000 in earnings from more than $1 million in prize money earmarked for those shows. Twenty-six of the 36 race nights will pay at least $10,000 to win while the other 10 carry a $5,000 top prize.

As if that weren't enough, more than $230,000 is committed to the top ten finishers in the 2021 points standings with a record $70,000 reserved for the 2021 USMTS National Champion.
