La Monte washed out, green light still on for West Siloam and Mayetta

LA MONTE, Mo. – The event scheduled for Thursday, April 2, a the LA Raceway in La Monte, Mo., has been canceled due to inclement weather. USMTS and track officials are looking into a possible make-up date sometime this summer.

The races on Friday, Saturday and Sunday are still on as planned. All three blockbuster events will be worth valuable points in the Bear Tire Mo-Kan Region of the USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Tour. A power-packed field of cars are expected as the two-day show at West Siloam will also be a points contest for the West Region of the USMTS Southern Series.

On Friday and Saturday, April 3-4, the West Siloam Speedway in West Siloam Springs, Okla., will play host to both the USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Tour and the USMTS Southern Series in the 3rd Annual Quarter Master Sooner Modified Nationals—the only double-dip for both series in 2009.

Friday's main event winner will pocket $2,000 and $3,000 is earmarked for Saturday's victor. Steve Holzkamper of Gentry, Ark., captured last year's Saturday night finale while 2007 USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Champion Jason Krohn of Slayton, Minn., won the Friday night go. In 2007, it was Hinton, Iowa's Jay Noteboom taking the finale while Kelly Shryock won the opener on Friday night.

On Sunday, April 5, the USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Tour visits the Thunderhill Speedway in Mayetta, Kan., for the thirteenth time in seven years for the 7th Annual Kansas Spring Fling.

Kelly Shryock is the only multi-time winner at Thunderhill, with six career victories at the lighting-fast speedplant including last year's "show in the snow." Other past winners at the facility include Jon Tesch (2007), Greg Skaggs (2007), Dean Mahlstedt (2006), Mark Noble (2006), Tommy Myer (2003) and Dustin Boney (2003).

Pit gates open at 2 p.m., grandstands open at 4, hot laps begin at 5 and the racing action gets underway at 5:30 p.m. USRA Stock Cars and USRA B-Mods are also on the racing card.
