“Grace Race” policy implemented for USMTS competitors

Due to a rash of rained-out events and schedule adjustments early in the 2009 racing season, USMTS officials are implementing a “grace race” policy for the remainder of the year’s events.

This option will allow for a competitor to be absent from an event but retain perfect attendance status for purposes of maintaining eligibility for the Top Dog Bonus and qualification for the The Hunt for the USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Championship or Hunt for the USMTS Southern Series Championship.

Any licensed competitor may submit a completed and paid entry form prior to the date of an event they will not attend. Credit for atending the race will be recorded, but the competitor will earn no points or prize money for that event.

For any races already completed this season, a competitor may also use the “grace race” option, but only up until his or her next race in the particular region for which the “grace race” option is going to be used. For instance, this Friday’s event at the Texarkana 67 Speedway is in the East Region of the USMTS Southern Series. Any driver wishing to use the “grace race” option for a prior East Region event that he or she missed must submit a paid entry for that race by this Friday.

Each competitor shall be allowed a maximum of two (2) “grace race” events during the 2009 season. A “grace race” can be used in either the USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Tour, USMTS Southern Series or one event each.
