USMTS ready for busy August with stops in Iowa and Minnesota
DECORAH, Iowa -- The United States Modified Touring Series is going to finish off the summer months with six nights of racing starting August 16th at the Upper Iowa Speedway in Decorah, IA. This will be the first ever visit to the Decorah area and fans will be treated to some great side by side modified action on this ¼ mile speedway.
On Tuesday the series will make a final stop at the Cresco Speedway in Cresco, IA. The last race at Cresco saw Kelly Shryock pick up the top spot after passing Kevin Pittman late in the race to pick up the win.
On Wednesday and Thursday August 18-19 the series will make its annual appearance at the Steele County Free Fair in Owatonna, MN. This is always one of the best races of the season as the Steele County Fair in Owatonna, MN is one of the best county fairs in the country.
The series will then move back to the Murray County Speedway in Slayton, MN for the county fair race. This will be the final stop of the season to Slayton so fans are encouraged to attend and see if Tommy Myer can remain unbeaten at the speedway in 2004 after picking up two wins this season.
The final night of racing will be held at Jackson, MN on Saturday August 21st. This again will be the final visit of the season to the speedway, which saw Johnny Bone pick up the win in the only visit this season during the Jackson Nationals.
