USMTS North Region action September 2-5
The United States Modified Touring Series will try for the second time to race at the Benton County Speedway in Vinton, IA after a severe thunderstorm came rolling through the area around 6pm. Several race cars were already in the pit area with several fans showing up to witness some great modified racing action. This race was originally scheduled for August 3rd. On Thursday night racing action will get underway with hot laps at 6:45 and racing to follow. Also running will be Hobby Stocks $300 to win and Stock Cars $400 to win. Hobby Stocks will be running very similar rules to what they run weekly, but the stock car class will run the weekly USRA rules that are run at Cresco, IA and Oskaloosa, IA on a weekly basis. Rules for this race can be found on the web at www.sispeedway.com. This race will be a must see show for fans and drivers. On Friday September 3rd the series will move to the Steele County Fairgrounds in Owatonna, MN for the final race of the season at the speedway. Some of the best racing in Owatonna has been held this season at the speedway. Racing action will get underway with hot laps at 7pm and racing to follow.
Hobby Stocks will race for $300 to win with Stock Cars and B-mods racing for $400 to win. On Saturday the final tune-up race of the season for the USMTS will take place at the Deer Creek Speedway as the drivers get ready for the biggest race of the year at this speedway. Several cars should be on hand for this race gearing up for the Featherlite Fall Jamboree late this month. Gates will open at 3pm with hot laps slated for 5:45 and racing at 6pm. On Sunday the USMTS will make its final appearance of the 2004 race season to the Dodge County Speedway in Kasson, MN. Hot laps will again take place at 5:30 with racing to follow. Wissota Street Stocks, Midwest Mods, and Super Stocks will also be running. These four races will be the final races of the 2004 race season for the USMTS at three of these tracks.
Several new winners at each track this season should make this some great modified action with several travelers in the area for the four nights of racing action. Each race will pay $2000 to win for the United States Modified Touring Series drivers.
