Shryock clinches 6th straight USMTS championship



FERTILE, Iowa -- With his $12,000 victory last weekend in the 6th Annual ‘Featherlite Fall Jamboree’ at the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, MN, Kelly Shryock clinched his 6th straight USMTS Championship. In 70 starts with the USMTS Series this season, Kelly racked up 21 feature victories in seven different states (Louisiana, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, Missouri, Minnesota, North Dakota) en route to the championship. A month-by-month recap of Kelly’s championship season follows.

FEBRUARY

Kelly won the second race of the 2004 season on February 28 at the Many Motor Speedway in Many, LA

MARCH

Kelly won three of the four USMTS races in the month of March, taking the win at the Junction (NE) Motor Speedway and sweeping the two races at the Thunderhill (KS) Speedway. Kelly started mounting an early point lead that ended up being insurmountable.

APRIL

Tommy Myer and Jon Tesch start their quest of the USMTS Championship. Kelly reaches victory lane in Oskaloosa, IA and Memphis, MO in the month of April.

MAY

Due to poor weather, the USMTS Series competes in only five races. Jason Hughes wins twice while Kelly goes winless.

JUNE

The USMTS National Tour kicks into high gear and so does Kelly. He wins five times on the National Tour swing. Jason Hughes continues to mount a challenge for the championship winning four times on the tour, while Jon Tesch wins twice.

JULY

Jason Hughes and Tommy Myer continue to pursue Kelly in the point chase as the mid-summer approaches. Hughes wins four times and Myer three in July, as Kelly wins twice at Cresco, IA and Luxembourg, WI.

AUGUST

Kelly establishes a commanding lead over Tommy Myer with four wins and eleven top four finishes in the month of August.

SEPTEMBER

Seven top four finishes and two wins in early September set the stage for Kelly to clinch the USMTS Championship at the Deer Creek Speedway at the ‘Featherlite Fall Jamboree’. Kelly places third on night #1, sixth on night #2, and clinched the Championship after winning the 6th Annual ‘Featherlite Fall Jamboree’s’ $12,000 top prize.

OCTOBER

Two races remain this weekend at the Scotland County Speedway in Memphis, MO on October 1-2.
