Dripps scores win and top-5, takes O'Reilly USMTS points lead

WATERLOO, Iowa -- Corey Dripps started the 2005 racing season with one win and two top-5s. Corey Dripps Racing, in conjunction with Rob & Becky Jorgenson Racing, left McCool Junction, Neb., with the O'Reilly United States Modified Touring Series points lead.

"The car was just flat out fast," described Dripps after winning the O'Reilly USMTS season opener at Junction Motor Speedway. "After the way the car drove this past weekend, the whole team is very excited about the season."

On Friday night (03.11.05), Dripps won his heat and would start third for the A-Main. Dripps took the lead while completing the second lap, and he pulled away for the win.

On Saturday night (03.12.05), things started out a little rougher. A third-place finish in his heat forced Dripps to race his way into the main event through a B-Main. After winning his B-Main, Dripps would start deep in the field.

Dripps drove the Yeager Machine/Pro Environmental Abatement/Big Cock Chassis through the field. After contact with another car, Dripps was forced to the pits to replace a cut tire. Dripps was still able to motor through the field and finish fifth by race end.

The "31" will travel to Mayetta, Kan., for an O'Reilly USMTS double bill at Thunderhill Speedway. After a weekend off, the team will travel to Britt, Iowa, for another O'Reilly USMTS double bill at Hancock County Speedway.
