VanderBeek brings added firepower into 2022 USMTS season
As New Sharon, Iowa's Zack VanderBeek embarks on his 19th season with the United States Modified Touring Series, he'll be bringing a sparring partner into the ring during the 2022 campaign for the Summit USMTS National Championship presented by RacinDirt.
“In addition to seeing the 33Z on the track, we are welcoming the 44S of Shane DeVolder to our team,” VanderBeek announced this week. “DeVolder comes to us from California and has been a part of our VanderBuilt Race Cars team for about a year now.
“We are very proud to have Shane behind the wheel of one of our cars and look forward to watching him grow throughout the year.”
DeVolder, 20, will pair up with VanderBeek to run the full 2020 USMTS campaign, and is a top contender for the Grant Junghans USMTS Rookie of the Year, which pays a record $10,000 to win in 2022.
VanderBeek took home the prize as the top USMTS rookie in 2004. At 37 years of age, his 50 main event victories puts him fifth on the USMTS all-time wins list.
‘The Z-Man' will also be running most of the USMTS races while he and his wife, Brittany, are expecting a baby girl in March. His first race will be pending her arrival date.

“Shane DeVolder, thank you for your hard work and dedication to our team. You have been a blessing, VanderBeek added. “Matt DeJong for your continued support providing the best manufactured parts to go on VanderBuilt Race Cars; Tim Plummer thank you for being a huge part of the success and brains behind our race team and VanderBuilt Race Cars.
“We look forward to a successful 2022 and can't wait to see our family and friends at the races.”

2022 season blasts off March 3-5: The Summit USMTS Modifieds will invade the Rocket Raceway Park in Petty, Texas, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 3-5, for the 12th Annual USMTS Texas Spring Nationals.
The track opened in 2015 and hosted the USMTS on June 25 for the first and only visit here by the series. Philip Houston was the winner that night. Formerly known as 82 Speedway, the fast quarter-mile dirt oval will also welcome USRA Stock Cars, USRA Limited Mods and USRA Factory Stocks all three nights.
The Rocket Raceway Park is a wide, sweeping 1/4-mile high-banked dirt oval and the facility holds 3,400 spectators in its elevated grandstands which offer superb viewing from any seat. The venue can be found in Lamar County—about 15 minutes west of Paris and 25 minutes east of Bonham. The track's physical location is 16369 US Hwy 82, Petty, TX 75470.
