SuperFlow doles out awards at Featherlite Fall Jamboree
SPRING VALLEY, Minn. – Six main event winners and their engine builders were recognized this past weekend at the 11th Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree with the SuperFlow Engine Builders Challenge for USMTS Modifieds and WISSOTA Midwest Mods.
“Engine builders are an important part of winning this challenging race, but they are often overlooked,” said SuperFlow president Scott Giles last week prior to the blockbuster event. “To fix that, SuperFlow is awarding contingency prizes to the winning engine builders from both divisions each night.”
Awards were presented in the new SuperFlow Victory Lane which was situated directly behind the grandstands to allow the fans at Deer Creek Speedway the opportunity to join in the celebration with the winning teams.
While the award was earmarked for seven different main event winners over the three days of racing, one engine builder nearly swept the accolades.
Sput's Racing Engines captured six of the seven feature races, including all three WISSOTA Midwest Mod main events. Using a Sput's Racing Engines powerplant, Kyle Jumbeck of Houston, Minn., captured Thursday night's WISSOTA Midwest Mod main event while Jerry Young of Blooming Prairie was the winner on Friday and Saturday.
Young also received a free WISSOTA license for the 2010 racing season, compliments of SuperFlow.
In the USMTS Modifieds, Sput's Racing Engines powered Jason Cummins of New Richland to a win on Thursday while New Sharon, Iowa's Zack VanderBeek captured Friday night's 40-lapper. On Saturday, Steve Wetzstein won the Farm Boy BBQ Non-Qualifers Race to give Sput's a perfect record going into the evening's 50-lap finale.
Jason Hughes garnered the top prize in the Featherlite Fall Jamboree finale, thwarting a sweep by Sput's and earning a $1,000 product certificate for his engine builder, Mullins Race Engines of Mt Olive, Ill.
SuperFlow also awarded Hughes a free USMTS regional license for the 2010 season.
Six product certificates valued at $3,500 were awarded to Sput's Racing Engines, which is operated by Mark Spatenka of Owatonna, Minn.
