S&S Fishing & Rental Southern Series foursome up next for USMTS
MESQUITE, Texas—Four big events dot the calendar this week for the United States Modified Touring Series with one in Texas to kick off the fun and then three along the southern border of Oklahoma.
Each race will award valuable points in the S&S Fishing & Rental Southern Region presented by Day Motor Sports and pay $2,000 to win for a possible $8,000 money grab during the $80,000 four-day excursion.
The track that hosted the first-ever World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series race in 1978 will shine the spotlight on America's premier dirt modified drivers as the USMTS Casey's Cup Series powered by Swan Energy returns to the legendary Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, on Wednesday, May 14. Last year Stormy Scott emerged in victory lane after a wild debut at the high-banked, D-shaped half-mile dirt oval.
Pit gates open at 4:00, grandstand gates open at 6:00, hot laps start around 7:00 and racing is slated to begin at 8:00. Adult tickets are $20, kids ages 12-15 and seniors 60 and older are $10. Children ages 5 and under get in for free and pit passes are $35 each. Other classes in action include Limited Modifieds and RaceSaver Sprint Cars.
The Devil's Bowl Speedway is located 3.2 miles south of US 80 on Lawson Rd. For more information call 972-222-2421 (tickets) or 972-222-2818 (office) or visit www.devilsbowl.com online.

On Thursday, May 15, the mud-slinging USMTS Modifieds will make their first-ever visit to the Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Okla. Adult tickets are $15, students ages 12-15 and seniors over 60 are $10. Kids ages 6-11 are just $2 and children 5 and under get in for free. Pit passes are $35. Gates open at 5:30, hot laps begin at 7:20 and the green flag waves at 8:00.
Mufflers are required at the Lawton Speedway.

Friday, May 16, will find the fast ‘n' furious fenderless freaks at the Longdale Speedway in Longdale, Okla., for another first-time series invasion. The Longdale Speedway is a brand-new, high-speed, high-banked half-mile clay oval that boasts 22-degree straight-aways and 26 degrees of banking in the turns.
Located about a half-mile south of town on Highway 58, construction on the new facility began in December. Gates open at 4:30 and racing is scheduled to start at 7:00. For more information, check out www.longdalespeedway.com or call 580-886-5375.
The double-double wraps up with an explosive finale on Saturday, May 17, at the Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Ardmore, Okla. John and Nicky Webb's semi-banked 3/8-mile clay oval has been the site of some thrillers in past years, including the last three races which were captured by three of the top four in the regional points this season—Johnny Scott, Stormy Scott and Rodney Sanders.
Gates open at 5:00, hot laps begin at 6:30 and racing starts at 7:30. Ticket prices are $20 for adults, $15 for kids ages 6-12, $15 for seniors and children ages 5 and under are free. Pit passes are $35. Support classes include Limited Mods and Stock Cars.
The Southern Oklahoma Speedway is located 0.7 mile east of I-35 (exit 29) on US 70, then 1.8 miles south on US 77. For more information call 405-627-1766 or click www.southernoklahomaspeedway.com to visit the track's official website.
