Return to Lakeside Speedway kicks off Hunt for the USMTS Casey’s Cup tripleheader Aug. 22-24



KANSAS CITY, Kan.—With 10 of the 19 events in the books, rounds 11-13 in the Hunt for the USMTS Casey’s Cup take place this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 22-24, with a tripleheader trek through Kansas and Oklahoma.

Each of the three events will award $3,000 to the winner, plus dozens of other bonuses and contingency awards for the Best of the Best in open-wheel dirt modified racing.

The Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., kicks things off this Friday, Aug. 22, with the final visit by the mud-slinging USMTS monsters to the famed half-mile clay oval. Gates open at 5 p.m., hot laps are at 6:45 and racing begins at 7:30.

USRA Stock Cars, USRA B-Mods and Grand Nationals will also be on the card. Adult general admission tickets are $18, kids ages 7-12 are $6 and children 6 years of age and under are free. VIP suites are $25 and pit passes are $35.

Coupons good for $2 off adult admission can be found at Casey’s General Stores locations in Kansas City, Leavenworth, Lenexa, Platte City and Shawnee. Kelly Shryock and his No. 3 Snickers Skyrocket will be at the 13000 State Ave. location in Kansas City from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 for a meet ‘n’ greet with fans. Over at the Casey’s location at 950 Eisenhower in Leavenworth, John Allen will have his No. 98 Oreo/Sour Patch Kids GRT on display during the same two-hour time span.

On Saturday, Aug. 23, the series returns to the Salina Highbanks Speedway in Pryor Creek, Okla., for what promises to be yet another classic battle on the steep clay banks with all military veterans getting in free of charge on ‘Salute to Veterans Night.’

Gates open at 5 p.m., hot laps get going at 6:30 and the first green flag waves at 7 p.m.

Fans can choose to view the racing from the grandstand bleachers, the upper deck beer garden, the full service Finish Line Bar & Grill or from one of the special VIP suites. Tickets for adults are $15, kids ages 5-12 are $10 and children ages 4 and under are free. Family tickets (2 adults, 2 kids) are available for $40. VIP seating is $25 or a seat in the beer garden is $15. Pit passes are $35 for adults and $25 for kids.

The gear-grinding goliaths of the USMTS wrap up their weekend on Sunday, Aug. 24, at the Outlaw Motorsports Park in Oktaha, Okla., with gates swinging open at 4 p.m. and racing at 6.

Tickets are $15 at the gate, kids ages 8-12 and seniors are $7.50 and children ages 7 and under get in for free. Active duty military and veterans can also enjoy the show free of charge.
