O’Reilly USMTS reschedules Memphis Meltdown for June 10-11

WEBSTER CITY, Iowa (May 9, 2005) -- The O’Reilly Auto Parts United States Modified Touring Series race that was rained out April 22-23 at the Bentz GM Country Scotland County Speedway has been rescheduled for Friday and Saturday, June 10-11.

What was four straight nights of racing through Nebraska and Iowa, now becomes a six-day trek through three states, with the Memphis, Mo., doubleheader capping off the week of action.

The six-day juggernaut begins with the "Pro-Line Buildings USMTS.com 30" on June 6 at the Adams County Speedway in Corning, Iowa. On June 7, the O’Reilly USMTS stars and cars make their debut at the state-of-the-art I-80 Speedway @ Nebraska Raceway Park in Greenwood, Neb., for the "Pro-Line Buildings 35" on the big 4/10-mile oval. The teams and their rabid race fans head back into the Hawkeye State the next day, June 8, for the "Pro-Environmental/KEVKO 40" at the Shelby County Speedway in Harlan, Iowa, followed by a stop on Thursday, June 9, at the Benton County Speedway in Vinton, Iowa, for the "Pro-Environmental/Holley 40."

Each of the first four stops -- the final events of the Pro-Line Buildings Swing #2 -- will see the winner take home a healthy $2,000 paycheck for his or her efforts.

On Friday and Saturday, June 10-11, the O’Reilly USMTS steamrolls back into Memphis, Mo., for the rescheduled two-day stop at the Bentz GM Country Scotland County Speedway. Friday's "Travel Connection/J & J Ag Memphis Meltdown" main event will pay the winner $2,000 while the winner of the "Memphis Auto & Truck Parts Memphis Meltdown" main event on Saturday evening gets a cool $3,000.

A sweep of the six events could send the happy winner home with $16,000 in cash.

The "Memphis Meltdown" doubleheader will also serve as the kick-off for the ten-race "Pro-Environmental Abatement Swing #3" for the O’Reilly USMTS. Each of the four swings serve as a "chase within a chase" for the O’Reilly USMTS National Championship. In addition to the season-long national points race, each swing carries it's own points fund, with the champion of each swing earning $1,000.

All regular Bentz GM Country Scotland County Speedway weekly classes except Pony Stocks will be running on Friday. On Saturday night, all classes will be running. USRA Casey's General Stores Championship Series and track points will be awarded for all classes except Modifieds.

On Friday, grandstands will open at 4 p.m. with hot laps slated for 7 and racing to follow. On Saturday, gates open at 3 p.m., with hot laps slated for 6:30 and racing to follow.

Pit passes are $25 each night with grandstands admission on Friday $12 for adults and $4 for kids; Saturday night's prices are $15 for adults and $5 for kids.
