Myer pockets $1,000 with USRA Modified win at Britt

BRITT, Iowa -- The USRA Casey's General Stores Championship Series continued Friday at the Pritchard Family Auto Stores Hancock County Speedway in Britt, Iowa on Club Nickel Night. O'Reilly USMTS superstar Tommy Myer (USRA Modifieds), Larry Portis (USRA Stock Cars), Scott Manske (USRA B-Modifieds) and Chris Monson (USRA Hobby Stocks) claimed USRA Casey's General Stores Championship Series feature wins, while Trever Nelson and Brandon Allen picked up Hornet victories on the night.

Myer, of Blooming Prairie, Minn., started third in the USRA Modified main event and held off Kanawha's Ryan Ruter to score the $1,000 win. Mark Noble of Blooming Prairie, Minn., finished third while Al Hejna of Clear Lake -- winner of Thursday night's Night of 1,000 Stars event -- finished fourth. Brad McEwan of Storm Lake rounded out the top five.

In USRA Stock Car action, veteran Larry Portis of Nora Springs continued his hot streak at the 3/8-mile oval with his fourth win in the last five weekly shows, and sixth overall for the season. Jeff Dolphin of Forest City finished second behind the points leader, with Chad Palmer of Renwick, Jeff Vsetecka of Charles City and Kevin Hoeft of Garner completing the top five finishers.

After settling for a runner-up finish last week, Scott Manske of Algona did one better Friday night in scoring his second USRA B-Modified win of the 2005 season. Points leader Jake Simpson of Algona took second, with third going T.J. Stalker of Mason City. Kevin Knudson of Clear Lake was fourth and Toby Boothroyd of Britt finished fifth.

USRA Hobby Stock action saw a first-time winner as Chris Monson of Clear Lake held off points leader Calvin Lange of Humboldt for the victory. Third through fifth went to Gary Lalor of Eagle Grove, Gary Lalor Jr. of Eagle Grove and Randy Hadacek of Britt, respectively.

Hornet features went to Brandon Allen of Belmond in the Senior division and Trever Nelson of Garner in the Junior division.

Next week is the Hancock County Fair, and the racing card at the Pritchard Family Auto Stores Hancock County Speedway will feature the McNeese Tire Fair Race on Friday, July 22. The USRA Casey's General Stores Championship Series will be back in action, featuring USRA Modifieds, B-Modifieds, Stock Cars and Hobby Stocks, along with the Hornet class. Gates open at 5 p.m. with hot laps at 7 and racing at 7:30.

The Pritchard Family Auto Stores Hancock County Speedway continues to offer one of the most lucrative weekly payouts in the state of Iowa, including $400 to win each week for the USRA Stock Cars. In addition, USRA-licensed drivers compete against drivers from other USRA-sanctioned tracks for a share of the USRA Casey's General Stores Championship Series national points fund.
