O’Reilly USMTS adds stop at Dakota State Fair Speedway, shuffles two Western Region dates

HURON, S.D. -- Officials from the O�Reilly Auto Parts United States Modified Touring Series announced today the addition of one event, the moving of another and the removal of one event on the 2006 schedule.

America's Premier Modified Series will visit the Dakota State Fair Speedway in Huron, S.D., on Wednesday, June 28. The new date will be sandwiched between a Tuesday, June 27, stop at the Interstate Speedway in Jefferson, S.D., and an annual visit to the Casino Speedway in Watertown, S.D., on Thursday, June 29.

Originally slated to be at Huset�s Speedway on June 28, the O�Reilly USMTS stars and cars will now make their first-ever visit to the Brandon, S.D., high-banked oval on Thursday, July 20, which takes the place of a previously-scheduled stop on that date at the Blackbird Bend Speedway in Onawa, Iowa.

As originally scheduled, the O�Reilly USMTS will make their inaugural visit to the Blackbird Bend Speedway on Friday and Saturday, April 14-15, for the CasinOmaha �Double Down� Showdown.

All dates effected by today's announcement are in the Western Region. The season remains at 73 events overall to be staged in 10 States throughout the Great Plains. The addition of the legendary Dakota State Fair Speedway 3/8-mile dirt oval brings the total to 36 unique venues that the rugged O�Reilly USMTS road warriors will invade during the 2006 campaign.

The 2006 season is scheduled to begin with the 3rd Annual Nebraska Spring Thaw at the Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, Neb., on Friday and Saturday, March 10-11.

�The Hunt� will be comprised of the final 20 races of the season. The O�Reilly USMTS National Championship points system will be used at all regional events, with the top-10 in the final standings for each region earning 10 points for first place, 9 points for second place and so forth, descending to 1 point for tenth place in the region. Each driver who competed at all events within a region will also earn 5 bonus points. The total points earned for all regions will serve as the base points that each driver will start with in �The Hunt�. The O�Reilly USMTS National Championship points system will be used at the remaining events for the drivers in �The Hunt� to determine the 2006 O�Reilly USMTS National Champion. Any driver finishing among the top-10 in the final points standings in one or more regions will qualify to be in �The Hunt� and thereby earn a legitimate shot at becoming the 2006 O�Reilly USMTS National Champion.
