Lansing too wet, Slayton now Memorial Day Weekend launch pad



LANSING, Minn. - Due to inclement weather and heavy rains on Wednesday night, officials from Chateau Raceway and the O’Reilly Auto Parts United States Modified Touring Series have postponed tonight's 10th Annual Guttormson Memorial presented by Noble RV. The event has tentatively been rescheduled for next Friday, June 1.

Four races still remain for this Memorial Day Weekend trek through the Gopher State.
 
When teams roll into the Murray County Speedway in Slayton on Friday, May 25, for the 4th Annual Minnesota Spring Challenge, it will be the first O’Reilly USMTS National Event since April 21 and the first contest of the season in the Yeager Machine Northeast Region. Gates open at 4:30 p.m., with hot laps at 7:15 and racing at 7:30. The Murray County Speedway is a 3/8-mile semi-banked dirt oval located on the west side of Slayton on SR 30, then 0.8 mile south on Juniper Ave.. Saturday will see the first event of 2007 at the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley for the 5th Annual Greenway Southern Minnesota Spring Challenge. Located 199 miles (3 hours, 11 minutes) from Slayton, gates at "The Creek" will open at 2 p.m., with hot laps at 4:45 and racing at 5. The Deer Creek Speedway is a 3/8-mile high-banked dirt oval located 11.3 miles south of I-90 (exit 209) on US 63 (0.7 mile north of SR 16). Set your TIVO to record the Indy 500 and Coca-Cola 600 because the best racing on Sunday will be at the Kasson Speedway for the 6th Annual Minnesota Spring Fling. Located less than 42 miles (47 minutes) from Spring Valley, gates at the Dodge County Fairgrounds in Kasson will open at 2 p.m., with hot laps at 4:45 and racing at 5. The Kasson Speedway is a 1/3-mile semi-banked dirt oval located 1.1 mile north of US 14 on SR 57 (at the Dodge County Fairgrounds). Just a short 28 miles (35 minutes) drive down the road from Kasson, the whirlwind weekend will wrap up with the triumphant return of the O’Reilly USMTS for the 4th Annual Memorial Day Shootout at the Steele County Speedway in Owatonna on Monday. Gates are slated to open at 3 p.m., hot laps are at 5 and the mud starts flying at 5:30. The Steele County Speedway is a 1/2-mile semi-banked dirt oval located 1.0 mile east of I-35 on US 14, then 1.2 miles north on CR 45 (at the Steele County Fairgrounds). Should the four remaining O’Reilly USMTS events this weekend triumph over Mother Nature, officials may move the Chateau Raceway show to a later date where it could be coupled with another event.
