USMTS drivers, officials looking forward to second half of '99

By Todd Staley

WEBSTER CITY, IA (July 11, 1999) - The race season is half over already my how time flies when you are having fun. The weekly tracks have started having mid season races and it don’t even feel that we have been racing that much. The Fall Jamboree has been coming together real well as the city of Webster City is excited about bringing a race of this caliber to town.

The next race on the USMTS schedule will be at the new Crawford County Speedway. Any driver that has not been at this track is encouraged to attend as the fairboard has spent a lot of money and it is one of the nicest facilities in Iowa. Ken Schrader will be on hand racing the Harris modified, and if this race is anything like two years ago, it will be one of the best races ever seen.

In our first year we have learned quite a few things in working with tracks. We will take retaining fees so that if a track cancels out on us we will receive something for the hassle. We have also talked with the tracks in North Dakota and with the car counts and low grandstand counts we feel it may be necessary to pull the plug on these races as USMTS was planning on renting the track for two of the three races.
