21st Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree full speed ahead Sept. 19-21

21st Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree full speed ahead Sept. 19-21

The 21st Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree will take place Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Sept. 19-21 at the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn.

The truly super, undisputed heavyweight champion of dirt modified shows will feature the fire-breathing Modifieds in the USMTS Hunt for the Casey's Cup and the Arnold Motor Supply Iron Man Challenge featuring Out-Pace USRA B-Mods sharing the spotlight each night.

The high-banked 3/8-mile clay oval located in the rolling hills of Southern Minnesota will be host to the world’s elite open-wheel Modified and B-Mod drivers and their machines for a little more than 100 hours as they battle for more than $150,000 in prize money.

At this year’s blockbuster, race fans will witness a complete program all three nights with $5,000 going to the USMTS Modified winner on Thursday and Friday while Saturday’s winner will pocket $10,000. B-Mods will battle for $1,000, $1,200 and $1,500 to win, respectively, over the three nights.

The top 15 in heat race passing points are locked into “A” Main each night with the top 8 redrawing for the first eight starting positions. An additional 15 drivers will advance from the “B” Mains.

Thirty cars will start the main event each night in both classes. Saturday’s championship features will go three-wide for the green flag starts.

For the titans of the USMTS, Thursday’s Non-Qualifiers Race will award $700 to win and a minimum of $100 for each of the 24 starters. Saturday’s 30-car Non-Qualifiers Race will pay $2,000 to win and a minimum $250 to start.

New this year, Friday’s program will feature the first-ever “Stoen Dash 4 Cash” for the USMTS Modifieds. The driver with the fastest one-lap time in each heat race gets the invite. Sponsored by Stoen Racing Engines, the 8-lap sprint will pay $700 to win and $100 to start with a slew of valuable contingency awards and high-performance products being awarded too.

Thursday, Friday and Saturday are the final three points races in the USMTS Hunt for the Casey’s Cup powered by Summit and will also award USMTS national points. Meanwhile, the B-Mods get Iron Man points as well as national points in the Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series all three nights.

The United States Modified Touring Series held its first race here on May 25, 2002. Nine-time USMTS national champion Kelly Shryock was the winner that night. Since then, more than 100 main events have been staged at ‘The Creek’ with 41 different drivers earing the right to turn onto victory lane.

While Shryock has amassed 10 wins at the Deer Creek Speedway, four-time USMTS National champ Jason Hughes leads all competitors with 14 career triumphs here, including a three-night sweep of the 2015 Featherlite Fall Jamboree.

Not surprisingly, the only other races with multiple national titles are third and fourth on the wins list. Defending Jamboree champ Rodney Sanders has eight wins here while his fellow two-time USMTS national champ Ryan Gustin lays claim to seven.

Terry Phillips and Tim Donlinger each have five wins at Deer Creek while Brad Waits, Jason Cummins and Brandon Davis have four wins apiece. Davis was the most recent winner here, taking the 14th Annual J&S JCB Labor Day Duel presented by FK Rod Ends on August 31.

Three-time USMTS feature winners include Cade Dillard, Joey Jensen and Zack VanderBeek. Drivers wheeling their rides into the winner’s circle twice are Corey Dripps, Dustin Sorensen, Jason Krohn, Johnny Scott, Lucas Schott, Ryan Ruter and Stormy Scott. One-hit wonders include Brad McEwan, Chad Kinder, Craig Thatcher, Dan Chapman, Dan Daniels, Darin Walker, Dean Mahlstedt, Jeremy Payne, Jon Tesch, Jordan Grabouski, Les Duellman, Mark Burgtorf, Mark Noble, Mike Hejna, Mike Sorensen, Mike Spaulding, Randy Timms, Steve Arpin, Steve Wetzstein, Tommy Myer, Tommy Weder Jr. and Tony Fraise.
