World Modified Dirt Track Championship presented by Hanson Tire Service Event Information & Procedures
Time Trials: Drivers will draw for position and will compete in group time trials with four cars on the track at a time. Each session will be two laps, with a green, white and checkered flag. If a driver spins or crashes during time trials, the driver will get no time. If a driver misses his group, he will get one lap at the end of time trials. Four groups of cars will be staged while one group is on the track. After each session, every driver must cross the scale. Any driver who does not pass inspection will get no time. Points will be awarded for time trials and drivers will be equally distributed into heat races with the top 6 times in each heat inverted in the first three rows (quick time will be sixth starting position of the last heat race).
Heat Races: There are no redraws after time trials. The USMTS passing points system will be used for all heat races. Passing points will be added to the driver’s heat race points. Depending on the number of cars entered, 12-18 cars will be locked into the “A” Main Qualifier for each qualifying night. The driver with the most passing points will start on the pole of the 35-lap "A" Main Qualifier, and so on.
“B” Main Qualifiers: Just like time trials and heat races, points will be awarded by finishing position in the “B” Main, so it is in the driver’s best interest to get the best finish he can to earn the most points possible for the best starting position possible in one of Saturday’s main events. Depending on the number of “B” Main Qualifiers staged, we will qualify at least four cars from each “B” Main Qualifier directly to the "A" Main Qualifier. Transferring drivers do not get “B” Main Qualfiier points.
“A” Main Qualifier: A total of 28 drivers will qualify for the “A” Main Qualifier through heat races and "B" Main Qualifiers. In addition, the two drivers with the best time in time trials that did not qualify for the “A” Main Qualfier will get provisionals and start in the 29th and 30th positions. Each driver will earn points in the “A” Main Qualifer - the higher you finish, the more points you get. Points will be added from all events for the night with the top 6 in overall points earning a spot in Saturday's championshio race. The driver with the most points from the three days will be on pole Saturday, with the rest of the 18 qualifiers also lining up in order of overall points earned. Note: Being the highest points earner on any given qualifying night does not guarantee you front row for Saturday's championship race - just a spot in the first six rows. Also, all ties in points will go to the driver with the best qualifying time during time trials.
Mulligans: We will attempt to have the same number of cars racing. Some drivers on Wednesday will use their mulligan on Thursday and some on Friday. All drivers on Thursday must use their mulligan on Friday. Once a driver draws for starting position on his mulligan night, he starts fresh with no points from the previous night raced.
Alphabet Soup Saturday: All cars will be locked into one of the main events on Saturday. Drivers will advance to the next higher main event by finishing position. After each race on Saturday, cars that move to the next race will go directly to the scale. Once all cars have scaled, the drivers will have 8 minutes to get lined up for the next race. Cars will pull onto the track 8 minutes after the last car is weighed. All cars that race are guaranteed to make at least $300 if making it into the “H” Main.
31st Starter Auction: We will auction off the 31st starting spot for the WMDTC championship race. Fans or drivers can bid to put their favorite driver into the main event. Bidding will begin at $2,000 with $1,500 of that going to the spot for that finishing position and any additional money being spread out among the drivers finishing 11th through 31st. Cash payment will be required at the auction.
Tire Issues: The fast time in each group of time trials will remove the right rear tire at the scale, so be prepared to take the tire off and leave it with track officials. The tire will be broke down, marked and sniffed for any substance. Any tire with a reading of more than 400 ppm will be disqualified. After time trials, the tires from the fastest five cars will be sent to lab for testing. We will also send in the top six qualifiers’ tires for testing. There will be zero tolerance on tire doping. The top five cars from the Saturday “A” Main will receive their check in the mail after tire test results are sent back to the office, which should be less than a week.
Track Prep: Deer Creek Speedway officials have the ability to do a lot of things with the racing surface. With four graders and three lay-lays, the track can be completely redone in less than 20 minutes. We will not let the racetrack get rubbered up, so track prep will be done as needed.
Breakfast: Breakfast will be served in the bar area beneath the grandstands every morning starting on Thursday and continuing until Saturday beginning at 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. each day. There is a small charge for breakfast, which is served by the Bear Creek Church and is very good.
Entertainment: Thursday night in the hospitality tent will be karaoke. The Dweebs playing on Friday night. Both nights will be a lot of fun so come out and enjoy yourself. Both events will begin shortly after the racing action each night.
