USMTS racers ready for return to RPM Speedway

The Summit USMTS National Championship presented by RacinDirt will return to action on Friday and Saturday, May 17-18, at the RPM Speedway in Crandall, Texas, with another doubleheader in the ARMI Contractors USMTS South Region presented by Gene Nicholas, LLC.

The third installment of the USMTS North Texas Nationals awaits as the tricky bullring hosts the series for the first time in three seasons.

The USMTS has staged eight trips at the semi-banked 1/4-mile dirt oval. Most recently, Dereck Ramirez topped the 11th Annual Texas Spring Nationals here in 2021, along with Terry Philips winning the first of two nights of racing.

The debut event in 2012 was rained out but the series returned in 2013 with Rodney Sanders getting the win. Johnny Scott also won in 2013 and Ramirez returned to conquer the USMTS North Texas Nationals presented by Penske Racing Shocks in 2020.

In November 2020, the track hosted the USMTS along with several USRA divisions at the 3rd Annual Summit Southern Nationals. Jack Sartain got his first win on opening night while the final two nights went to dirt late model standout Brandon Sheppard.

This year's show will pay $5,000 to win the Summit USMTS main event each night.

Both days will also feature Limited Mods and Factory Stocks with grandstands opening at 6 p.m., drivers meeting at 6:45, hot laps at 7 and racing at 7:30. The pits open at 5 p.m. Friday and 12 noon on Saturday.
