Scheduled for August 29-31 at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minnesota, this year's mega-event at the mecca of modified racing promises to be a spectacle of speed, strategy and sheer racing prowess.
The event kicks off with a $3,000 top prize for the USMTS Modifieds on Thursday, escalating to $5,000 on Friday, and culminating in a $12,000 purse for Saturday's winner.
Tain event on Saturday will start with the unique traditional three-wide formation, adding an extra layer of excitement and challenge for the drivers. For those who don't make the feature race, the Non-Qualifiers Race offers a chance to win $1,000, $1,200, and $1,500 over the three nights, respectively.
Adding to the excitement, the USRA B-Mods will also be racing all three nights, with their own set of lucrative prizes. Thursday's winner will take home $500, Friday's $700, and Saturday's finale will award $2,000 to the victor. This year introduces a new twist for the B-Mods with Non-Qualifiers Races each night, mirroring the format of the USMTS Modifieds.
While USRA B-Mods will be racing for Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series national and regional points. This competition adds an extra layer of intensity to each race, as drivers aim to secure their positions in the standings.
Deer Creek Speedway, with its high-banked 3/8-mile clay oval, has become a legendary venue for the USMTS, hosting the series for the 129th time this year. The track has seen 47 different winners over the years, showcasing the depth of talent in the series.
Nine-time USMTS national champion Kelly Shryock won the inaugural event here in 2002, setting a high bar for the competition that followed. Rodney Sanders and Jason Hughes have each claimed 14 victories at ‘The Creek,' highlighting their dominance on this challenging oval.
Last year's event was marred by rain, with only the opening night feature being completed before weather forced cancellations. The makeup event in early spring also succumbed to the elements, leaving fans and racers eager for this year's uninterrupted festivities.
An open practice session is scheduled for Wednesday, August 28, from 6-9 p.m., giving drivers one last chance to perfect their setups before the three blockbuster shows to follow on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
This event not only celebrates the sport but also the racing community's enduring love for dirt track racing, promising three nights of unforgettable action under the lights of Deer Creek Speedway.
