Masters returns to Cedar Lake June 12-14

Masters returns to Cedar Lake June 12-14

The 26th Annual Masters takes place Thursday, Friday and Saturday, June 12-14, at the legendary Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis.—a crown jewel battle for the Summit USMTS National Championship presented by RacinDirt.

The legendary event features both USMTS Modifieds and CLS Super Late Models racing for the same money each night. USRA Late Models are also on the card all three days.

The show kicks off Thursday with a $3,000-to-win main event for the Summit USMTS Modifieds and CLS Super Late Models, followed by $5,000-to-win contests on Friday. The finales on Saturday pay a whopping top prize of $12,000 to the winning driver in each class.

This is $40,000 in prize money for the winners alone, and nearly $200,000 in total purse over three nights.

The Summit USMTS Modifieds made their debut at the Cedar Lake Speedway in 2001 with Tim Donlinger winning the Badger State Championship. Trent Follmer garnered his first and only USMTS victory in the 2002 edition of the event, and the series has held 34 additional feature races since then.

The USMTS became part of the Masters tradition in 2011 with Ryan Gustin winning both ends of a rain-delayed program. He returned in 2012 to top opening night at the Masters but it was Rodney Sanders capturing the finale.

Sanders matched that by winning the opener in 2013 before the finale was pushed back two months by inclement weather with Johnny Scott winning on Aug. 14.

Sanders has enjoyed more success inside the golden guardrails of the Cedar Lake Speedway than any other USMTS competitor, registering eight career wins here including Friday's show last year.

Jake Timm won last year's opener at the Masters but rain wiped out Saturday's finale.

More information is coming as officials hammer out the details.
