Another night, another track, another Chisholm USMTS victory

OGILVIE, Minn. (July 19, 2025)—The second night of the 5th Annual Mod Wars roared into Ogilvie Raceway on Saturday, and it was a masterclass by Joe Chisholm of Osage, Iowa.

In a dominating performance, Chisholm started from the outside pole and seized the lead from the drop of the green flag, maintaining his advantage for all 40 laps of the Summit USMTS National Championship presented by RacinDirt main event.

While Chisholm led unchallenged out front, the battle for the remaining podium positions was a captivating display of skill and strategy.

Rodney Sanders of Happy, Texas, showcased his prowess by charging from his seventh starting spot to secure a strong second-place finish. This impressive run further bolstered his lead in the national championship standings. Tanner Mullens of Wichita, Kan., continued his consistent week, bringing home a commendable third, adding crucial points to his season tally.

The most electrifying drive of the night came from Jody Bellefeuille of Carlton, who orchestrated a heroic charge from the 22nd starting position to finish fourth. Bellefeuille's performance earned him the FK Rod Ends Hard Charger Award.

Rounding out the top five was Landon Atkinson of Little Falls, who delivered a strong run after starting fourth. Completing the top ten were Bryce Sward of Nelson, who started 13th. Jim Chisholm of Osage, Iowa, finished seventh after starting 16th.

Alex Williamson of Rushford navigated the track to an eighth-place finish from 19th, showcasing his ability to move through traffic. Gary Christian of Broken Bow, Okla., secured ninth, and Reece Solander of Emporia, Kan., rounded out the top ten after starting 18th.

In the Summit USMTS National Championship season. With two nights down and one to go, the points battle is intensifying. Rodney Sanders of Happy, Texas, continues to hold the overall lead with 1803 points, but Joe Chisholm's commanding win significantly closes the gap, placing him at 1537 points and firmly establishing him as a force to be reckoned with. Jim Chisholm, despite a seventh-place finish, remains a strong contender with 1686 points, while Tanner Mullens holds third with 1642.

In the Grant Junghans USMTS Rookie of the Year points, Joe Chisholm now leads with 1463 points, extending his advantage over Trevor Hughes of Westville, Okla. (1253 points), and Reece Solander (1251 points). The FK Rod Ends USMTS Hard Charger Points see Sanders leading, closely followed by Terry Phillips of Springfield, Mo., and Jim Chisholm.

The Mod Wars tripleheader concludes Sunday at Granite City Motor Park in Sauk Rapids, Minn.,, for the third and final night of Mod Wars. The 3/8-mile high-banked dirt oval offers $5,000 to win and $600 to start. Sanders, a 2013 winner at Granite City, will aim to add another trophy to his collection on this gritty track.

The Wissota Late Model Challenge Series, Wissota Midwest Mods and Crown Vics will round out the four-division event. The Granite City Motor Park is located at 2540 Golden Spike Rd NE, Sauk Rapids, MN 56379. For more facts, check out www.gc-motorpark.com.
