After what seemed like the longest winter in a generation, a remarkable amount of rainfall and severe weather has saturated the first two-thirds of spring and given fans, racers and racetrack operators a severe headache.

With Memorial Day Weekend looming, just nine nights of USMTS racing have been completed (two of those were qualifying nights at King of America IX). In contrast, more nights were wrapped up by the third week of March during last year's campaign.

In 2017 the series had nine shows in the books before the end of February and 28 races were run leading up to Memorial Day Weekend.

Because of this, several events have had to be shuffled on the USMTS schedule.

After more than three weeks of silence thanks to Mother Nature, the USMTS will fire back up this Friday, May 24, at the Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City, Wis. On Saturday, the rugged road warriors return to the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn., and Sunday will see the swing wrap up at the Upper Iowa Speedway in Decorah, Iowa.
