USMTS Season Opener Postponed Due to Forecasted Weather
WEBSTER CITY, Iowa (March 2, 2026)—The Summit Racing Equipment United States Modified Touring Series presented by Racindirt.com will have to wait a little longer to kick off the 2026 season, as the opening event has been postponed due to the upcoming weather forecast.
With forecasts calling for a significant amount of rain throughout the week, series officials feel it is in the best interest of teams, fans, and track partners to make the decision now rather than wait closer to race day. The early call allows everyone involved to save on fuel, avoid unnecessary travel, and make alternative plans for the weekend.
“We understand that it may seem early to call an event five days out,” said President Todd Staley. “However, in today’s world everyone is constantly watching their phones and tracking the forecast. Making the decision now gives our drivers and fans clarity and respect for their time, travel, and resources.”
The USMTS will immediately begin working on a makeup date and will announce that information as soon as it is finalized so fans and teams can plan accordingly.
The 2026 USMTS season will officially kick off three weeks from now at the Lucas Oil Speedway for the King of America XV, and anticipation remains high for another year of the toughest, most competitive modified racing in the country.
